Very dark here under the castle network. Signage can sometimes be confusing. Best to use phone torch light to guide the way. Was dry during a good day.

Make sure you have a light . It’s very dark and scary to enter and to exit . Mother and I were the only one in there and it was quite scary to walk around in the dark but it’s definitely worth it . Better see it .

The statue is imposing. The massive size of Oilger shows that if he were to stand, he'd easily be 10 feet tall, or more. His arms are thicker than my chubby little waist, if he wore jeans, my entire body would be swallowed in one leg. The detail is stunning. The ties on his sandals to the edges of his fingernails are clearly defined. This was worth the whole trip. Don't forget your Holger Danske souvenirs in the gift shop! All price ranges, 5 kroner and up. Postcards, notebooks, statues, posters, even snow globes. Totally cool, authentic drinking horns, even a Holger Danske Ale. The exhibit is so cool! Literally. Wear a sweater/sweatshirt if you run cold. Maybe bring a flashlight for uneven floors. We found a hole by falling in. We found another hole, that dropped down an entire level or more, but it was safely marked off with a barrier wall. We're allowed to look in it, to fall in that one is a deliberate act against common sense (because you'd have to literally climb a wall) The statue is at the start of the casement exhibit, but there's so much more to see on the way through. Watch your head space, low arches in ceiling in places. The stone stairs are so worn, you can see the hundreds of years of people using them. It's a thing that reminds a person how each step leaves an imprint, cumulative through time. A must see at Kronborg Castle. The low price of admission includes all three exhibits and the grounds. Tickets available in the gift shop.

A big sculpture of Holger Danske is located in the beginning of the Kronborg's casemates. This hero is sleeping while nothing threatens Denmark. In other case he will wake up and fight for his country. Very interesting to see it. Casemates themselves are a bit narrow and dark (think about this before going there). So you'll need to use a flashlight.

Remarkable statue of the Danish hero found in the castle's casemates. The story that lies in the sculpture is fascinating: the statue would be none other than the hero himself who will awaken when Denmark needs him again. The atmosphere also adds an almost perfect touch of mystery.

Magnificent, larger-than-life statue of the mighty legendary warrior. For history buffs, or anyone interested in European myths and legends, it is a must-see.

Follow the Casemate tour, you will learn a lot. Great story with real stuff

The Danish mythical hero lies asleep under Kronborg Castle The national hero Holger Danske is asleep, deep down in the underground passages of the castle’s casemates. He has slept for hundreds of years. According to an old legend, Holger Danske will wake up the day Denmark is threatened by enemies. Only then will his eyes open. He will then get to his feet and raise his sword.
