I have mixed feelings about this place. The place is very homey and relaxed, but customers are paying a quite high price, so I am not sure that is fair that you need to go to the cashier and place your order and cue in a line. I'm not sure how things work in Denmark, but if it's normal then it's okay. I just feel like they should take orders from the table instead of customers lining up. The food is on the good side. The servings are really big. We tried burgers, stew, and steaks. All of these foods were good. They offered us their Christmas menu and this is where the bad experience came through. 😅 it's not good. Just so-so

Delicious! The staff was friendly and the food was amazing! They had vegetarian options and all the combinations of their smørrbrød were great! Cozy, closed back patio and indoor seating options. They have coffee, tea, and alcohol all good! A great place to stop by for brunch or lunch while in the area for tourists, but plenty of locals we're there too! Only warning is they are big portions! I'd recommend 1-2 for a regular sized meal, more or the sampler plate only if you're feeling really hungry! Great plates to share and try more too.

Very delightful place, where the staff made up of guys is really efficient. Good food and excellent value for money. We had dinner in the internal garden and everything was perfect. Recommended for families with children, they will amaze you!

We had a wonderful experience at Cafe Olai! We stumbled upon it after traveling to Helsingør to visit the Kronborg Castle. It is a great place for travelers to try traditional Danish dishes in a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and had many recommendations. My partner and I both got the Smørrebrød sampler, which was a great way to try different Danish foods. Our server even gave us a free sample of his homemade Schnapps, which was delicious and a fun addition to our meal! I highly recommend Cafe Olai to anyone in the area!!

Very nice place, with an internal courtyard and outdoor tables located right on the street. I took a plate of fried fish accompanied by salad and it was really excellent, quality food and honest prices. Remember to order at the counter inside and pay before consuming. Really recommended!

Got the combo smorrebrod plate which I initially thought was a bit pricy but it showed up and was probably enough for two! Was really good for my first smorrebrod experience and portions were huge. Came with smoked salmon and egg with lots of dill, beef, fried fish, chicken salad and bacon and lots of fresh veggies plus side of bread - our neighbour said we were definitely in Denmark with these portions, just wow! Husband got the meatballs which were really good as well. You do have to go up and order yourself which I thought was odd but glad we stayed. Great spot for filling up!

We were recommended by local guy on Central Station. He said that at this cafe very tasty Danish food. And he was so right! This place is cosy and relatively cheap. The food is incredibly delicious and portions are huge. We paid 130 DKK for meal and tea.

Very bad vegan experience!! I went with my family to this restaurant, because they served vegan food. We asked for a vegan salad and a vegan sandwich, after asking what was vegan on the menu. The salad arrived to the table with cheese on it, I asked to be changed, as I am allergic to milk. The waitress gave me a new one without any apology. I understand we all make mistakes, but the attitude what matters... and it wasn't a good one this time. The salad came and was really good. After that, we received a sandwich with egg on it. You should've seen my face... I could not say other thing than: is this a joke?... the poor waitress got nervous and asked me if it was because of the egg. I am sorry that she went through that, because it wasn't really her fault, but her behaviour didn't help and I just took it out on her. The vegan word was written on the menu and I also asked them several times. It is unacceptable, that the order went through three persons and none of them knew what it really was. To be honest, the rest was quite good. My family had a nice experience food wise, but I absolutely did not, as you can imagine.
